How do Users use the system?

Three types of Users are recognised on Southern Sun's Digital Library.

Un-Registered User
A user who can only browse the resources that are stored on Southern Sun's Digital Library.
First time users must Register to get the full benefits from this site.

Active User
A user who has registered on Southern Sun's Digital Library, been vetted by the Librarian and still has time left to search and download resources from requested brands within the Digital Library.

To become an active user a simple 2 step process should be followed.

First step:

Users who require access to Southern Sun's Digital Library resources are required to Register on the site. Once registered the system will prompt the user to select a Brand(s) from which they'd like to download resources. Once a Brand(s) is selected an e-mail is automatically sent to the librarian. End of step One.

Step Two:

The Librarian will confirm and vett the request from the user to access Southern Sun's Digital Library. If a positive response is forthcomming then the Librarian will make the user an active user with a time limit. The system will reply to the active user with the access key to the brand(s) that the user has requested access to. Similarly a negative response will be sent to the user if the Librarian is not satisfied with the information supplied by the user at registration. The active user will then once again logon to Southern Sun's Digital Library web site and via the search mechanism, use the supplied access key to access the brand they have requested data from. Follow the instructions to download the resources required. End of Step Two.

In-Active User
Either a user who has registered but had a negative response from the Librarian or an active user whose time limit has lapsed.
